April Event

The April Event is a seasonal event occurring in early April each year, which adds temporary changes to the game which are fun and slightly silly but may not be as balanced as regular gameplay.

SuperHorse

Main article: SuperHorse

During the April Event SuperHorse is guaranteed to spawn in every game (unless it is Rush Mode), regardless of size. His spawning during this event is in addition to the regular hero spawning, meaning he usually serves as a bonus hero.

Riding SuperHorse can allow dwarves to earn the Horseback Archery achievement.

Death Replies

During the April Event, players will have a new option in their player menus to enable a feature called Death Replies. Enabling this feature will cause dwarves to automatically send a message "explaining" their death the instant they die.

Distraction Creepers

To complement the existing damage and destruction creeper paths, Distraction Creepers can confuse and bewilder dwarves. Distraction creepers are able to hide in the undergrowth and make strange noises to lure dwarves into danger, leaving the shrines undefended from monster attacks. Any creeper can use this ability by right-clicking their explosion, regardless of upgrade path.

Previous Features

The April Event is updated each year, and some features from previous years are sometimes removed to make way for new features, or relocated to a different event.

  • Slimes were created for the 2020 April Event, but have since been added to the game year-round.
  • Emboars are special monsters which originally featured in the 2022 April Event, but now spawn in Rush Mode games and during the Halloween Event.
  • Chickens are special monsters which can carry other monsters around on their backs. They are occasionally spawned manually by admins.
  • Gazebogotchi were virtual pets which players could take care of throughout the game, including feeding and interacting with them to keep them happy.
  • Gazebob's Trivia was a gameshow in which players could answer general knowledge questions to earn buffs for their team.
  • Challenge Mode gave dwarves the option to play the game at a higher difficulty, with weaker armor and/or a reduced mana cap.
